The female genital area is the most sensitive and important part of the female anatomy. If one does not care for it, it can be easy for you to be infected with fungus candida and many other fungal infections. This is because the skin around it is very delicate as a result of the constant soiling due to the passing of urine and stools. Hence the area needs a lot of care and attention by keeping it as dry as possible.
The following tips should be followed to ensure good hygiene of the private parts:
Avoid douching
Douching should be avoided even if there is itching in the vagina due to its self-cleaning mechanism as it might push bacteria into the uterus and cause pelvic inflammatory diseases.
Right type of underwear
When your vagina is wet, you should not wear underwear especially at night and during monsoon as it reduces ventilation and causes fungus and bacterium to develop, which may lead to adverse effects on your body.
Cotton underwear is better than nylon underwear as they ensure enough air circulation around the vagina. Females are advised to wear knee-long socks or short socks and a long dress to ensure your vagina is always in a ventilated condition.
Go for a check up
If your vagina is itchy and the vaginal discharge has unusual color, it is a sign that it is not healthy. It is highly recommended that you go for a gynecological test. Vaginal discharge can be less during menstruation or when one is using birth control methods.
Proper washing
When taking a shower, you should clean the hair around the vagina with soap but not the vagina itself as this might stimulate allergic reactions. The vagina should be cleaned gently and not to be scrubbed to avoid sores that might lead to infections, especially during sexual intercourse.
When cleaning the vagina, one is advised to wipe from front to back and not the other way around as this may drag bacterias from the anus causing infections. Trimming of pubic hair and use of warm water should be done regularly to ensure easier cleaning.
Healthy sex
Having a monogamous relationship is advisable. Use lubrication during sexual intercourse as dry sex can cause friction that may lead to abrasions as well as infections. After intercourse, you urinate and ensure that you clean your private parts.
Exercise and diet
Regular exercise and a healthy diet can boost immunity as obese women may be at a higher risk of infection. During menstruation, one should avoid using pads and panty liners for longer than necessary, and usage of menstrual caps that are inserted into the vagina should be practiced. Most women get infected during menstruation as a result of PH from the vagina, and this might throw things out of hand.
You just need to take care of your private parts and diseases won’t bother you. You can also lighten the skin around your private parts.
